Motivational Monday #3: Turn Obstacles into stepping stones
What's up everyone Happy Motivational Monday, I am so excited to do another post and aw man this is going to be so exciting. This post I want to talk about how turning obstacles into stepping stones can make a huge impact and how it can make you stronger. So there are things that stand in our way whether it is a certain someone that puts things in our way or even uncomfortable situations, or a surprising result or shocking result that puts us down and can keep us from doing anything.
My experience I had a unique sensitive experience, apparently when I was hit by a car I realize I had hip surgery and knee surgery, and that was a huge surprise as I was crossing the street and the car stooped actually an SUV went as it pulled up hit me and then I was knocked out. After months of rehab and on top of that struggling to walk straight and my brothers telling me I can not do any competitive sports, and only playing basketball in my front yard.
So after sitting out 2 years of playing sports sophomore year I decided to try to compete again, I had a desire to compete in athletics, and I had to work out, but in between that my brother put me to work and I had to do the paper route every weekend, and as my young immature self, I was complaining about having to get up early and wanting to sleep in, and apparently I excelled at doing a paper route and self doubting can be one big obstacle, I was pushed out of my laziness. Because when I was living in Florida other than playing basketball and doing an aerobics group I was so out of shape and on top of that I was so overweight and I was sluggish and lazy, and tried to exercise but because I wasn't eating right I didn't see much progress. But because I came to Boston and lived with my brother and did the paper route and did football workout routines, and also changing my eating ways it was hard at first but I started to realized making the tough, uncomfortable decisions can really elevate you and build progress as well and self doubt can be the biggest obstacle as well, and even a stepping stone to getting the progress you been wanting.
A player I want to name for example, that had obstacles in his life which is Stephen Curry, where he wasn't as tall as his father, he was considered small and wasn't a top prospect. It was naturally thought that he was gifted like his father but instead he had challenges where he didn't get the opportunity he thought he was hoping for. He still had strength shooting the ball and even where he even though was very small in high school. The obstacles that he faced in his natural height, and his weight he was a huge underdog and underdog story are always interesting, and can be very uplifting. Stephen Curry always had to fight and work hard and he didn't let that stop him and on top of that he had no self doubt at all. And for my own experience when I did the paper route, it was one of the toughest things to do, I thought I was going to keep messing up and not be able to reach my full potential or even understanding hard work. And when Stephen Curry went down with an injury, that was a huge obstacle, but he returned even stronger and also led them to the playoffs, and led them to a big upset in the playoffs, and was even up for the challenge against a strong team like The San Antonio Spurs despite being knocked out of the playoffs. 2 years later he eventually led the team to an NBA championships and even an MVP and oh man this was such an awesome accomplishment as well.
To sum up my blog, don't let challenges and even obstacles stop you from doing what you are trying to get to. Try to get there by going through those obstacles and turning them into stepping stones, instead of a big wall you can not get over or even go around, turning the obstacles into stepping stones can be a step into making you stronger instead of making you a quitter.
I made an inspirational quote saying "Make your November a Yesvember" and aw man it was a great one but what did I mean by the term November to a Yesvember. Everybody hears the term "No" and it can be devastating because when you are trying to go for something and go for an opportunity and you try to go for something or even ask for something "No" is a very tough word to hear and apparently it takes a lot to shoot for what you want or even take a lot of hard work as well.
For my experience No is something I would hear and would make me feel like I need to throw in the towel. Something that is tough to hear and on top of that it can really bring you down. Aw man my experience of hearing "No'' had its ups and downs and there were times I threw in the towel and say aw man I can't and really agree with the words "I can't" and aw man that term I can't is a big part of "No" and sometimes it is easy to throw in the towel and go through the motions, and then eventually soon I showed determination and tried to avoid any further regrets of just sitting there and not even doing nothing. The term of how easy it is to cave in or even give up is always an easy thing to do, and it was like eventually like I said I had to realize I wasn't going to achieve anything or get prove anyone wrong either without taking action.
Taking action is hard work and basically it takes determination and even getting out of your comfort zone because when you get comfortable into self doubt it can really make you feel worse and worse and on top of that it can make you feel like you have to settle into mediocrity, and mediocrity, if you really hate mediocrity you have to do whatever it takes to really show how much, sky is the limit and really show that anything is possible if you really put your mind into it.
So the reason I really did the term Yesvember is because there is a No in the Month November and in this month or even any other month you would hear the term No. And the real question always is how do you turn the term from No to Yes and to say a few examples this Motivational Speaker named ET has talked about how and even asked how the term No can shoot you down and how it can break your spirit. But how you take the No, you got to recycle it, and turn that No, into breaking you down into motivating you and fueling you into making that No into something extremely different in a huge positive way. So with the month November it can be a very positive eventful month, not just Thanksgiving or Veterans Day but a really good way to start early on ending a month on a really strong note.
